Cutest here. I know I skipped a week as the howls of outrage from our fans made us well-aware. Where’s the rest of the Maui story they hollered. Why haven’t you continued telling us about Maui and the glam lifestyle for which you are known? (Ha! Say I) Is life improving in Lahaina? How exciting was it to discover there are only 16 letters in the Hawaiian language in English and five (or six) of them are vowels?
Well, while I hate to disappoint, we’re not reviewing our Maui adventure this week. Instead, a trip just down our block – which we know many of you don’t often travel – is in store for you.
As known far and wide, the Kansas City Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is this Friday (6:30 p.m.). But what you may not know is all the hoopla that is accompanying a very different looking tree and its surroundings this year. They’re renaming it the Hallmark Christmas Experience. It’s quite the show and it will happen on weekends through December 23rd. The pictures we're sharing were taken at our pre-visit investigation.
There will be all kinds of events going on, both inside Crown Center and out in the mall area where a plethora of lights, greenery, shops, Hallmark stars, drinks (not just cocoa), music and dare I say it, much more, which is what writers say when they’re either tired of listing items or can’t think of any others. The Crown Center ice skating rink, which is open all winter, is flat-out entertaining to watch even if you don’t skate.
Go to https://experiencehallmarkchristmas.com/experience-the-square/ to read a little about it.
It’s worth a trip to 24th and Grand. Go in the evening – the good news/bad news is that it’s dark now by 5:30 p.m. The lights (and the very showy tree this year) are well worth it. And if you need to eat, the Burnt Ends barbeque restaurant right across the street has gotten really good. Order the onion straws.
OK, we know this will be more thrilling than this video taken before the Experience is ready.
Oh, just to let you know so you don't worry about our absence, Cute and I are taking a brief (about a month plus) hiatus. The big reason is we’re moving and finding this to be a very, very time-consuming activity, especially if you’re somewhat of a procrastinator. Yeah, that’s me. Please wait for us.
To give you an idea of our current onerous constraints, here is our Thanksgiving full-out celebration/decoration, below. Happy Holidays!
