Condominiums, and getting old(er), have many benefits. Sometimes, not being in a neighborhood full of children (who inevitably grow up to be teenagers) is one of those. But sometimes it's not.
We speak of Halloween. Cutest lived in neighborhoods that were not children-rich and her home lots were often spaced too far apart to be good for Halloween trick or treators. In fact, in one neighborhood she gave out the GIANT candy bars because she only would have eight or nine children all evening long. It still brings a tear to her eye.
Living in a condominium that has a dearth of children is normally just fine. But come Halloween and all the fun decorations, and cute kids decked out and the visual hoopla now made about it. . . She was kind of sad just thinking about what all she was missing again.
So the other night, I took her to Café Trio just by the Plaza because it does a superbly excessive job of embellishing a theme every year. You may not be aware of their penchant for decorating. Christmas and Halloween are decorated to the nth degree, with every surface appropriately covered. Decorations vary every year and are always creative. And encompassing.
We think if you live in a neighborhood with lots of Halloween decorations, or even if you already take driving tours around areas that are well decorated, we really suggest you stop by Café Trio. If you park below and come up the steps, the fun starts there.
Enjoy the spooky, silly season more this year!
P.S. By the way, they also have a great happy hour and a pianist. A good brunch as well. The food is always good, attractive, and the service hustles. If you've not been there for a while, you really should go and enjoy the ambiance.
